Alumni services

Library services

The Library offers services and consultations for research projects of all kinds, and our libraries offer wireless access and a variety of spaces for solitary or group work. Stop by and use your student/alumni ID number to check out books. If you have questions please see the Alumni FAQs or contact us:

Online research tools

UVA alumni have access to more than 100 databases, on a broad range of topics, through the Library.

To access Library databases, visit the Alumni databases list. Once you click into a database, you'll authenticate using Netbadge to access the content. Email lib-ejournals@virginia.edu with any questions.

UVA alumni also have access to outstanding online research tools from EBSCO, Project Muse, ProQuest, and more. These resources are underwritten by the Library, but you must access these online resources through the Alumni Association

Manage your research

  • Zotero - UVA Library recommends Zotero or other open access citation managers.  See the Citation Management guide for more information on citation managers
  • PolicyMap Access continuation - PolicyMap is used in offices across the country for understanding communities and making strategic decisions. After graduation, you can continue your PolicyMap access by filling out this form. Get six months of a standard subscription for free and a basic subscription afterward. Many graduates use PolicyMap to add visualizations to their portfolios when applying for jobs.
  • An ORCID ID is a unique researcher identifier, used worldwide, that you can keep throughout your life and retain even if you move institutions. UVA Library has built the UVA-ORCID Connector service, which allows you to verify your UVA affiliation.
