The Library’s Scholars’ Lab is helping Professor Fotini Kondyli with archaeological data visualization for her "Inhabiting Byzantine Athens” project.

The new College Topics online archive, from Vol. I, No. 1 of January 15, 1890 to Vol. XXVII, No. 64 of June 14, 1916, represents a run of 1,270 issues and 7,663 pages.

The recently opened Edgar Shannon Library is busy and bustling, and the space is also enlivened by new art throughout the building. The art is part of the Art in Library Spaces (AiLS) initiative, designed to create inclusive artistic spaces for the University and Charlottesville communities and strengthen the UVA Library’s presence as a place of belonging for all.

After years of planning, renovation, and construction, UVA’s main library opened for business in January 2024 and celebrated a new era with a grand celebration and ceremony in early April in which the building was dedicated as The Edgar Shannon Library, named for UVA’s fourth president.
